(ECNS) -- Professor Yang Lihua from Peking University talked about the Root of Chinese Civilization at the dialogue program "Cultural Relativity" in Beijing.
"Knowing boundaries and limits, as well as stopping at these limits, are a great concept and value of Chinese civilization," said Yang, a professor of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Peking University.
According to him, China has never shown any colonialist or imperialist tendency in the history, which is a testament to a defining concept and value of the Chinese civilization – respecting the boundary.
"It means China knows its boundary and limits and knows to stay within that. It also means China always thinks about others and leaves some leeway for others. That's a critical part and underlying feature of Chinese civilization," he added.
