(ECNS) -- "I think very few people understand why this (China's development) has happened so quickly and why it is that we have to deal with it on a practical business-like level rather than as a threat," Sir Vince Cable, Former UK Business Secretary said at the dialogue program "Cultural Relativity".

Sir Vince Cable dissected some misconceptions about China in Western society, saying that focusing on the current situation without looking back at its historical roots has led to many misconceptions on China in Western society. "I think people in the West looking at China cannot understand why this process doesn't seem to have happened. Their collective values continue to have a higher weight than they do in the West. I think a lot of the misunderstandings come from that basic theory," Sir Vince Cable said, adding that "People are reacting to current events rather than looking back over history and look at its origin, so it has led to many misunderstanding."
