(ECNS) -- Tibet's first electrified railway – the Lhasa-Nyingchi railway, celebrated its first anniversary of operation last week.
In the past year, the Lhasa-Nyingchi railway has transported a total of 1.137 million passengers and 47,800 tons of cargo.
On June 25, 2021, the first electrified railway in the Tibet Autonomous Region Lhasa-Nyingchi railway was put into operation, which completely ended the history of no railway in southeast Tibet, and the Fuxing bullet train was powered by both internal combustion and electricity drove on the roof of the world.
Over the past year, the Lhasa-Nyingchi railway has maintained a stable operation and the quality of train service including passenger and freight transportation has been continuously improved. The Lhasa-Nyingchi railway is an important part of the Sichuan-Tibet railway, with a total length of 435 kilometers and a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour. As of May 31, a total of 1.03 million passengers and 36,900 tons of goods were transported.
