(ECNS) -- The transfer of cattle and sheep is underway in the Qilian Mountain Grassland, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
They are heading for summer and autumn pastures with higher altitudes.
Herders living at the foot of the Qilian Mountains move from one place to another according to seasons so that the animals can enjoy abundant grass while the grasslands recuperate.
Local herdsmen usually move from one place to another twice a year, taking daily necessities and driving herds of cattle and sheep from the winter and spring pastures to the summer pastures along Qilian Mountains. When the weather gets cold, they move back.
In summer, pastures with plenty of water and lush plants as well as a mild climate can accommodate herds of livestock for about 90 days.
