(ECNS) -- Famous Chinese-American mathematician Shing-Tung Yau, who is also the first Chinese Fields Medal winner, had an exclusive interview with the "W.E. Talk" of China News Service recently.
"Many people are curious about why Chinese students are good at math yet there are few great mathematicians in China," he said.
"Actually, there are lots of misundertandings among them. Among Euromericans, students who are the best at math do much better than their Chinese peers. They are not only taught content but also stimulated to develop a real interest in mathematics. They have a real interest in mathematics. They have an enormous motivation to discover the beauty of learning mathematics," he added.
