(ECNS) -- Temperatures of a dozen districts and counties in Chongqing exceeded 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to the municipal meteorological observatory of Chongqing.
The city's Beibei district reached 44.6 degrees Celsius — the maximum temperatures that have appeared for the second time on record in Chongqing.
At the same day, the thermometer shows that the temperatures of a motorcycle seat reached 72.2 degrees Celsius and the ground reached 58.7 degrees Celsius.
The thermometer stopped working after measuring the temperatures of ground and motorcycle seat.
Chongqing has witnessed two rounds of heat waves this summer, with 29.3 days of high temperatures on average, ranking second in the period since 1951. The most was 30.2 days in 2006.
