Chongqing turns on 'power-saving mode'

(ECNS) -- Many large screens were shut off in the commercial zone of Jiangbei District, Chongqing on Monday as the city is facing a severe power supply.

In some shopping malls and light rail stations, public lighting and indoor escalators were shut down.

At the Hongyadong tourist site, the lighting on the outer wall and on the bridge tower of Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge was turned off for the time being.

To ensure a safe, orderly power supply, related governmental departments of Chongqing decided to adjust the business times of shopping malls in all districts and counties of Chongqing.
