(ECNS) -- The construction of the dredging vessel Tian Kun Hao, the largest of its kind in Asia, began in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province on Friday.
The 140-meter-long China-built vessel, with a designed capacity to dredge 6,000 cubic meters per hour, can dig as deep as 35 meters underwater.
The project will overcome difficulties like remote transport and tight schedule, and build a 3,135-meter-long 100,000-ton channel, an extension project of Lianyungang Port.
The project will dredge 6,766,000 cubic meters of sand and silt in total.
