Public views on Chongqing's new regulation against abandoning pet dogs

Chongqing revised the regulations for the management of dog raising (draft), which is expected to be published in 2023. According to the draft, one shall not abandon a dog that he/she has bought or kept; otherwise, he/she may face fines of between 100 and 500 yuan; if the circumstances are serious, a fine between 500 and 1,000 yuan shall be imposed.

Previously, Fujian provincial authority has prohibited abandoning dogs at will since Oct. 1, 2022. And Hubei provincial authority has prohibited abandoning dog or cat since March 1, 2022.
