(ECNS) -- 41 mural paintings of the grottoes located in the Aksu region of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, have been restored, according to the Kizil Grottoes Research Institute of Xinjiang. These mural paintings have a thousand-year-old history.
The Kizil Grotto Research Institute has been engaging for years in rescuing conservation of and research on the mural paintings and cultural relics of the local grottoes. With the efforts over the past decade and more, the institute has cultivated a stable conservation team and achieved independent innovation and breakthroughs in some protection technologies.
