Fireworks dazzled over Doha's sky as thousands of fans celebrated the day. The throng gathered around the waterfront were attracted by the fireworks display.

The skyline of Doha on Saturday has been lit up by flags of the 32 competing nations.

Qatar is the first Middle Eastern country to host the tournament.
