Ruoergai County in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is 3,406 meters above sea level on the northeastern border of the Tibetan Plateau. Instead of inconvenient transportation, it is now seeing thousands of packages delivered every day. Yidu Town in Fuqing City, Fujian Province, is now supported by a rural smart logistics base.
As a result, loquats grown in the town are sold nationwide, becoming the "golden fruit" for villagers to achieve prosperity. In Jiangning District of Nanjing, intelligent autonomous vehicles have turned into couriers, delivering daily necessities to residents in community all day long.
Over the past decade, Chinese logistics have witnessed rapid growth. The world's most accessible and largest postal express network has been built, benefiting the largest population. The number of express packages has increased from 5.7 billion in 2012 to 108.3 billion in 2021, ranking first in the world for eight consecutive years since 2014.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the postal network has accelerated its expansion to grassroots levels, and thus now postal services are accessible to every village. As of June 2021, 98 percent of China's towns have been covered by the express service network with 100 million express parcels every day. The move of "express services reaching out to villages" has remarkably contributed to poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
Over recent years, express companies have been putting great efforts into their integration with factories. They have shifted from terminal "porters" to "mobile warehouses", helping manufacturers reduce their logistics costs and realize upgrading. With the improvement of the modern logistics system, a growing number of products made in China go abroad through the "Express Going Overseas" initiative. China's eight-piece winter packs are amazingly popular in Europe. Thanks to Cainiao's overseas warehouse, a pair of thermal socks can be delivered to a consumer in Paris within only two hours after the opening of the "Double 11" shopping festival.
In the future, China's logistics industry will focus on promoting green transformation and smart upgrading, and continue to make its industrial and supply chains more resilient and advanced, so as to make China a logistics powerhouse.
