The annual lantern show at Yuyuan Garden, a historical tourist site in Shanghai, has been on display and will run through February.
The lantern show is a tradition to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. Large lighting installations featuring the rabbit, the Chinese zodiac animal for the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, have been set up in the main plaza. The latest edition of the show is inspired by the Shan Hai Jing, or The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a major source of Chinese mythology that dates back more than 2,000 years ago. In the Yuyuan Old Street, some time-honored shops have introduced snacks themed on rabbits, attracting many visitors despite the cold weather.
The Center Plaza and Gold Plaza are filled with a variety of auspicious animal lanterns. Tickets can be purchased online or at the booths around the Yuyuan Garden.
