Hundreds of blossom-headed parakeets spotted in SW China

Hundreds of rare blossom-headed parakeets have been spotted in Ruili City, Southwest China's Yunnan Province, setting a new record for the species' population observed in China.

The blossom-headed parakeet is under second-class state protection in China. It inhabits valleys and forests and feeds on wild fruits and grains.
