A Chinese girl launched a campaign for sanitary pads and donated 6,000 sanitary napkins to underprivileged women in Syria on Monday, after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit the country on Feb. 6.
The major difficulties in the donation process should be the source of goods and transportation, according to the donor. Since sanitary napkins cannot be shipped directly to Syria from China, a friend helped her purchase them in Beirut, Lebanon's capital city. These hygiene products were then transported to Syria by rescue teams. The girl told the reporter that women around the world should help with each other, regardless of races, regions, or countries. "Women share a lot in common and I hope that my sisters in Syria can remain safe and sound," the donor said.
