There were 348 million railway trips during this year's 40-day chunyun (Jan. 7 to Feb. 15), or Spring Festival travel rush, which ended on Wednesday, an increase of 94.73 million or 37.4% over the same period last year.
The average daily number of rail passenger trips was 8.7 million, recovering to 85.5% of that in 2019. There were 11 days in which the daily number of passenger trips was over 10 million, indicating a significant rebound in railway passenger flow.
The national railway delivered 415 million metric tons of goods in total during this year's Spring Festival travel rush, remaining stubbornly high.
