Chinese President Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to the protection of ancient streets and cities, showing his concern for historical and cultural preservation.
While serving as secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee in the 1990s, he stopped the demolition of old residences in the "Three Lanes and Seven Alleys" and made the decision to renovate it.
Since 2021 after Xi's re-visit, the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys has become a must-see hotspot for tourists.
Due to careful protection and renovation in the past three decades, it is taking on a new look.
As Xi has said, the protection of historical blocks, ancient architecture and cultural relics is equivalent to the preservation of the city's history and heritage.
