At an annual work review news conference on Wednesday, Louise Ho Pui-shan, Commissioner of Customs and Excise of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, said that Hong Kong customs handled 7,148 cases in 2022, down 8 percent from the previous year. Among these, 931 drug cases were detected last year, accounting for 13 percent.
In 2022, the department seized 6.9 metric tons of drugs, an increase of 70 percent compared with 2021.
