An Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin rescued in Hainan Province was released back into the sea on Friday. After entering the water, the dolphin quickly swam away.
The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, about two meters long and weighing about 200 kilograms, had lost its way, been injured and was found stranded on the shore near a pier in Changjiang Li Autonomous County. It suffered cuts by reefs but no fatal wound, said the rescuers.
After three hours of rescue and treatment, the dolphin was transported to about 18.5 km off the coastline and then released into the sea.
