China's first electrified highway demonstration line completed

CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. announced on Monday that China's first electrified highway demonstration line was completed. Located in Zhuzhou, central China's Hunan Province, the demonstration line is two-way and two-lane with the 7-meter road width.

The line covers various road conditions, providing rich simulation scenarios for testing vehicle performance and system reliability and providing reference and basis for later commercial operation.

The traditional road freight system consumes a lot of fuel, which is inefficient and has high carbon emissions. The electrified highway system integrates cloud-driving scheduling, vehicle-ground communication, ground power supply, and other core system components. It carries out functional reconstruction. The direct drive mode of the grid can realize a continuous and stable electric power supply. The electrified highway system can make trucks avoid the low-temperature effect compared to the pure electric heavy truck using power batteries. The energy utilization efficiency can be increased by more than 6%.
