Strong snowstorms have swept across parts of north China. As of 11:00 a.m. on April 12, snowfall of up to 10.5 mm was recorded in Mohe City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, bringing a blanket of snow 16 cm deep in some places, according to the local government.
The city's meteorological service has issued a yellow alert for icy roads, cautioning vehicles to drive slowly.
On Wednesday, heavy snow also hit the Altay Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The precipitation reached 14.1 mm in this region. It has amounted to the second-highest snowfall in April since meteorological information was recorded in Altay Prefecture in 1954.
