Catkins seeds from millions of poplar and willow trees have swept across northern China in recent days.
Beijing has started injecting female poplar and willow plants with an inhibitor to stop them from budding and curb the overabundance of catkin pollen in the air. It is reported that the inhibitor injected into the tree is called Gibberellic acid, which is a broad-spectrum plant growth regulator that can promote plant growth and development, and inhibit reproductive flowering.
