Two spotted seals were born in Tianjin Haichang Polar Ocean Park on March 6 and March 30. The male pups are currently behind the scenes bonding with their mother and are practicing their swimming skills. The pups will make their public debut in the near future.
Under China's top-class national protection, the spotted seal is the only pinniped (fin or flipper footed) marine mammal to breed in Chinese waters. Staff has made special feeding and care plans. They regularly perform medical examinations and weigh the baby seals to ensure their healthy growth.
