Various folk activities were staged in some cities of southern China on Saturday to celebrate the Sanyuesan.
Sanyuesan, which in Chinese refers to the third day of the third lunar month, is one of the country's most famous folk festivals.
On the night before the Sanyuesan, a music show played in Qiongzhong, Hainan Province. Actors performed folk songs and dances to tourists from all over China. A traditional celebration was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the day of the Sanyuesan, attracting many local residents to participate.
At a She village in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, a bevy of folk activities were staged at the Sanyuesan festival. The celebrations staged in Shangrao this year included a bamboo pole dance, an opera performance, as well as a fashion show with strong ethnic characteristics.
