Dalai Nur Lake in Hexigten Banner, northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, witnessed a massive migration of Huazi fish.
As a ritual of nature, Huazi fish begin their annual migration upstream for spawning each spring.
It is quite difficult for the Huazi fish to lay eggs, as there are obstacles of rapids, rocks along the way and the risk of predation by migratory birds. And local fishery workers have prepared temporary spawning grounds for the fish.
As a species endemic to Dalai Nur, Huazi fish is known to be able to bear the very high levels of alkalinity in the lake, but has to migrate upstream for the survival of fish eggs.
