The C919, China's self-developed large passenger aircraft, completed its first commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing on Sunday, marking its official entry into the civil aviation market.
The flight, operated by China Eastern Airlines, took off as MU9191 at 10:32 a.m. from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport with 128 passengers on board.
China Eastern Airlines prepared special boarding pass for passengers on board. "The water bottle and other products on the flight were customized. The cabin crew also sent us a special boarding pass," said Zhang Keli, a student at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
"It took off and landed smoothly," said Zhang Keli, "'made in China' is expected go global in the near future."
Passenger Mr. Guo said that the seat spacing on the C919 is much wider, compared to the Airbus A320 and the Boeing B737 series. "We can fully stretch our legs when sitting on the seat without feeling crowded." said Mr. Guo.
The C919 is China's first self-developed trunk jetliner in accordance with international airworthiness standards and owns independent intellectual property rights.
