Hong Kong citizens came to consult on how to get a mainland driver's license and learn mainland traffic laws in a driving school on Thursday since Hong Kong residents will be allowed to use their eligible vehicles to travel between Hong Kong and Guangdong via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starting July 1.
According to the official website of the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, a total of 1,600 Hong Kong private car owners have been selected to become the first applicants of the Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles program.
The 1,600 applicants were selected through "computer ballot" from 16,400 hopefuls.
The Hong Kong government estimated that over 450,000 car owners and passengers will ultimately benefit from the program.
