Dragon boat makers were spotted racing against time to fill orders ahead of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival in Zhongtang Town of Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province.
The town has a traditional dragon boat manufacturing history for more than 300 years.
Huo Wobiao, the sixth generation inheritor of the family's dragon boat making techniques, has dedicated himself to this industry.
"There are so many shipyards in our town. And these shipyards to make dragon boats have been passed down from generation to generation, not occasionally to make a dragon boat. I'm the sixth generation inheritor, and my son is the seventh generation," Huo said.
Orders for dragon boats have surged this year. Various dragon boat races, suspended in the past few years, will be held around the traditional Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 22 this year. And the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Maritime Dragon Boat Race will also be held in Dongguan.
Moreover, Huo hoped that more young people could inherit this craft.
