Colored wheat straws industry booms in Henan

Farmers began harvesting colored wheat in Huojia County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province on Tuesday. 　

There were more than 8,000 types of characteristic breeding materials in the experimental field of colored wheat in Huojia. Black, green, purple, coffee-brown, the wheat was of various colors. Some special wheat grew two meters tall, much taller than a person. 　

The wheat is eatable and its stem can be used for making straws.　

These special types of wheat have become important resources for breeding.
