Production of Kazakh embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage item, has helped female members of the village cooperative increase their income at the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Kazakh embroidery is commonly adopted on carpets and tapestries, as well as other ornaments and articles of daily use. The Kazakh embroidery depicts patterns of nomadic grassland life, including animal horns, sun, moon, stars, flowers, and trees, showing a distinctive ethnic style.
The village cooperative was founded in 2012. "Our products are exported to Kazakhstan. They are popular with local consumers there because of good qualities and reasonable prices," said Qureshi, inheritor of the Kazakh embroidery.
