People took part in a dragon boat race in Putian, east China's Fujian Province, on Monday, before the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 22 this year.
With a long history of about 1,000 years, the Putian dragon boat race has been held since the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Nearly 100 dragon boats and 3,000 people were invited to participate in the event, according to the organizer.
The racing activity usually lasts a long time in Putian, starting in the 4th lunar month and ending in the 8th month.
