Peter Hediger, former senior analyst for defense and security policy in the Swiss Ministry of Defense, on Wednesday praised China's initiative for finding a solution to Ukraine crisis and criticized the U.S. and EU for ignoring them, on the sidelines of the ongoing Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing.
Hediger noted that China's Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis was very sound. "It was not on the base of an egoist foundation of China. It's on the base of the United Nations. Nevertheless, the United States and the EU have ignored it. This is very deplorable."
The Forum on Global Human Rights Governance opened in Beijing on Wednesday. Jointly hosted by China's State Council Information Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the forum themed Equality, Cooperation and Development: The 30th Anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action and Global Human Rights Governance.
