Chongqing's first 500-KV zero-carbon electricity substation officially entered operation on Wednesday, which is expected to significantly improve the regional power supply this summer.
The construction team worked around the clock to ensure the project could be finished on time. The substation will optimize the power grid structure, transmit clean energy, and boost the city's social-economic development.
The closure, firewalls, and other building materials are processed in a factory and then delivered to the substation for installation, thus reducing carbon emissions by about 15 metric tons, according to Yue Yang, director of Project Management Center in Chongqing Branch of the State Grid Corporation of China.
