A village super league held in Rongjiang County, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, has gone viral both online and offline.
David Geary, a British football enthusiast who has lived in Guizhou's Rongjiang County with his parents since he was young, was attracted to the match. He was amazed to see so many villagers playing football and organizing their own teams.
The village super league, dubbed "Cun Chao" by Chinese netizens, has attracted 20 teams to participate and will continue until July.
The football field has become a joyful gathering place that villagers visit on weekends. Before and after matches or at the intermission, representatives in traditional ethnic costumes from each village team carry local specialties on their shoulders, play the reed pipe, and dance.
