(ECNS)-- One person died from gun violence every 11 minutes in 2021, setting a new record - a total of nearly 49,000 deaths from gun violence throughout the year, according to a new study.
Shootings occur in almost all places in people's daily lives in the United States. An article in the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder stated that "there are no safe spaces from guns in our nation." The number of children and teens killed by gunfire in the U.S. increased 50% between 2019 and 2021.
Positions of Democrats and Republicans on gun control are becoming increasingly polarized and gun violence is exacerbated by social inequality and racial tensions.
