With the completion of the last steel structure assembly, construction ended on Guangzhou Baiyun railway station Monday and entered the decoration phase.
With 11 platforms and 24 lines, the station is a key project in China's railway planning. It will mainly serve normal trains and provide supplementary services for high-speed and intercity trains. The station will also be equipped with a tourist center, a long-distance passenger transport center, a tourist bus station, and an urban bus station.
Featuring characteristics of Lingnan culture and a brand new Transit-Oriented Development model, it will be a large-scale integrated transportation hub, featuring station-city integration, diversified transport functions, and environmental friendliness.
It will be one of the largest integrated transport hubs in Asia.
The station is expected to enter operation this year. It will accommodate all trains of ordinary speed running through the city, laying a solid foundation for the renovation of the Guangzhou Station and Guangzhou East Station, both of which are located in downtown areas.
