Firefighters inspected Tulou, Unesco-listed Hakka roundhouses in Zhangzhou City, east China's Fujian Province on Wednesday.
Firfighters carried out fire safety inspection and fire rescue drills in Eryilou of Dadi Tulou cluster in Zhangzhou City. They said that Tulou Scenic Area in the jurisdiction will also be regularly inspected during the holiday.
Fujian Tulou, which dates back to Song and Yuan dynasties (10th -- 14th century), is a type of Chinese rural dwellings of the Hakka people in the mountainous areas in Fujian Province.
The layout of Fujian Tulou followed the Chinese dwelling tradition of "closed outside, open inside" concept: an enclosure wall with living quarters around the peripheral and a common courtyard at the center.
In 2008, Tulou was added to the World Heritage List as a cultural site.
