China's total box office in 2023 reaches $4.2 billion

As of July 14, the total box office of the Chinese film market, including presale tickets, in 2023 exceeded 30 billion yuan ($4.21 billion), which is close to the 30.67 billion yuan of 2022, according to Chinese ticketing platform Beacon. 　

Full River Red, Wandering Earth 2 and the suspense crime film Lost in the Stars were among the top three films. 　

China's film market will rally in 2023, and take the lead in the world by 2025, according to a report released by global auditing and consultancy firm PwC on Thursday.
