A bamboo fiber fan weighing 23 grams has been exhibited at Deji Art Museum in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.
As a representation of the circular fans in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the present piece manifests excellence in craftsmanship and material. The bone is made of bamboo filament. The silk surface is covered with lacquer to protect the fan from corrosion, insects, and water.
This fan is among the five well-preserved fans of similar types of the Song Dynasty.
