More than 900 fishing boats will sail into the South China Sea from Zhapo National Port as a fishing moratorium of three and a half months ended on Wednesday in Yangjiang, south China's Guangdong Province.
Over the past few days, fishermen have prepared for the start of the fishing season. Fishing boats were berthing at Zhapo Port of Hailing Island in Yangjiang City.
A festival was held to mark the launching of the new fishing season in Yangjiang on Tuesday. Nearly 10,000 people gathered for the feast, with about 300 fishermen participating, praying for the harvest. The banquet was set up on the seashore, attracting the attention of local people and many tourists.
Mr. He, a Yangjiang resident has participated almost every year since the first fishing festival. "It is worthwhile to promote our boat-dwelling culture. I hope more tourists and friends will come here to experience the culture of Yangjiang," he said.
