Children dressed in traditional Yi ethnic costumes chorused a song to inaugurate the opening ceremony of the 31st summer edition of the FISU World University Games in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The children all share a common hobby of singing.
They come from Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, which was once one of the most poverty-stricken areas in China. After achieving great success in poverty alleviation, the conditions for children's education have greatly improved. Besides acquiring academic knowledge, they now have a bigger stage to showcase their various talents.
"I want to keep singing. I dream about working as a music teacher. I would go back to my hometown Liangshan Mountain and teach children music," said Jihaoyouguo, a girl from from the Yi ethnic minority group.
