Architects and urban-planning experts, organized by the Mentougou branch of the Beijing Planning and Natural Resources Commission, have conducted field inspection and mapping work in Mentougou district of Beijing.
Heavy rainfall caused severe damage in Beijing earlier this month due to the impact of Typhoon Doksuri. Mentougou, one of the worst-hit districts, has begun post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
Experts provided support on the resettlement of villagers, community relocation and flood control.
"The general principle for disaster relief in Mentougou district is to basically recover in one year, improve comprehensively in three years, and develop with high quality in the long term," said Wang Qingshu, staff of Mentougou Branch of the Beijing Planning and Natural Resources Commission, "Our priority is to resettle local villagers."
Multiple excavators and forklifts have been put into use in a severely-hit town to help with post-disaster recovery. It was estimated that a total of 40 villages in Mentougou district will be under reconstruction.
