The Fujian Zhangzhou Coast Guard Bureau launched an emergency deployment against Typhoon Saola on Monday, and carried out anti-typhoon publicity and safety inspection in key sea areas of Zhangzhou city. Law enforcement boats were deployed to enhance maritime patrol.
The coast guard officers went deep into the fishing port terminals and fishing rafts under the jurisdiction to help fishing vessels in port fix anchor chains and mooring ropes, transfer the catches, and check the fire safety equipment.
Typhoon prevention handbooks were given to fishermen to help minimize the possible losses and ensure the safety of people's lives and property under the jurisdiction.
Typhoon Saola is expected to move towards in a north-northwest direction at 10 kilometers per hour, and turn northwestward and head closer to the south coastal areas of the Taiwan Island starting on Tuesday, the Fujian provincial meteorological bureau said.
