The Smart China Expo Smart Automobile Scenario Challenge was held in Yongchuan District of southwest China's Chongqing from Friday to Sunday.
It was the first intelligent automobile competition carried out on open public roads in the urban area.
More than 180 industry representatives and 19 teams from the field of intelligent vehicles participated in the competition.
The participating autonomous vehicles changed lanes, made turns at the intersections, and stopped at bus stations with pedestrians and other vehicles on the roads.
A set of new rules were adopted in the competition based on the type of vehicles. Indicators such as vehicle sensing, algorithm, decision making, control and safety were included to evaluate the performance of autonomous vehicles in terms of traffic flow, vehicle attitude control and emergency recognition and response.
"The professional evaluation agency plays an important role in helping us set up our operating performance indicators for autonomous minibuses", Yang Zhiwei, Deputy chief engineer of intelligent driving of Dongfeng Yuexiang Technology, told reporters.
