A water lounge named "Super Water Space: Yang" has been unveiled on Mingyue Lake in southwest China's Chongqing, marking the first Level 4 autonomous driving boat being put into operation in the city.
The smart boat, which resembles a white-colored space cabin floating on the water, has an indoor space of 17 square meters and a terrace deck of 11 square meters. Passengers are able to enjoy the view of Mingyue Lake through the transparent cabin door.
The smart boat is able to automatically set up destinations in advance and hover near the scenic spots. Equipped with smart devices such as millimeter wave radars and visual recognition cameras, it can identify other boats at a distance of 50 meters away to avoid obstacles and ensure safety.
In order to improve the riding comfort, the boat uses a voice recognition control system, through which passengers can adjust the light, the air conditioner, the music, and the transparency of the cabin door. The boat runs at a speed of 0.5 meters per second, and can slowly rotate while moving forward like a revolving restaurant.
