On Monday, thirteen police dogs showcased their physical strength and practical skills at competitions held in a training base in Shanghai. The dogs completed practical tasks ranging from anti-explosive exercises, bag searches, drug detection, obedience tests, and more.
Among them, explosive search is the most challenging project. The dogs had to detect gunpowder within given time while avoiding all kinds of interference, including sausage, soap, toothpaste, cookies and other items. The well-trained dogs performed well at the competitions. Some of them had carried out major security tasks during the China International Import Expo and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
"I felt so happy and surprised when I heard my dog winning the first place. All I could think about was my dog. I am very grateful for it. We train very hard for daily tasks. We had searched for explosives twice during the International Import Expositions. I think my dog did a great job," Hang Tianbao, the handler, told China News Service.
