The 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou had sold over 3.05 million tickets as of Saturday, contributing to an impressive ticket revenue of 610 million yuan ($84.78 million). The eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday drove ticket sales.
The audience attendance rate had surpassed 92 percent, with the highest number of attendees recorded at 290,000 on October 1, according to Mao Genhong, chief spokesperson of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
By hosting large-scale and long-time sporting events such as the Asian Games, a city will be left with legacies of sports venues. "We can both host other events and benefit the people. The Asian Games has boosted ticket sales, participation in sports events, and the volunteering spirit in Hangzhou," said Mao.
