A night school for art that opened at Shanghai Mass Art Center has gained tremendous popularity among young people. In the 2023 Spring and Autumn semesters, the school has provided 382 classes and recruited nearly 9,000 people.
The classes range from dance, music and traditional culture, to lifestyle and fashion. Special courses are set for young professionals, such as PowerPoint production and business etiquette.
The art center has become a place that people love and can afford to come to. It charges the students 68 U.S. dollars for 12 introductory classes and 110 U.S. dollars for 12 advanced ones. It also offers livestreaming courses, charging 41 U.S. dollars for 12 times.
"We have also invited industry professionals to teach the students. We have partnered with professional cultural institutes, colleges and universities, and organizations to pool outstanding teachers," Yang Lingzhi, director of the Liaison Office of Shanghai Mass Art Center, told China News Service.
