The Chinese-invested Siem Reap Angkor International Airport in Cambodia started operations on Monday and is expected to become a gateway to the world-famous temples of Angkor.
The new international airport is about 40 kilometers from the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park. Classified as Grade-4E, the airport can handle 7 million passengers annually and has a runway with a length of 3,600 meters.
It is understood that the airport can accommodate mainstream wide-body aircraft.
