A "sniffer dog" inspection robot was seen at the Light of Internet Expo of the 2023 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit on Wednesday. Developed by China's State Grid, the robotic dog can perform inspections at substations.
The robotic dog attributes its "good vision" to the integrated application of a high-precision camera and an infrared thermometer. Laser radars and obstacle avoidance sensors are installed at its front, allowing it to plan its patrol paths and automatically avoid obstacles independently.
The robotic dog can work in a harsh environment. The design of its long legs enables the robot to climb up and down stairs. With cutting-edge technologies applied, the inspection robot can perform various tasks, detecting excessive heat, internal faults, and hazardous gas.
